Concept’s challenge was to transform the empty light-industrial building, which was smaller than its previous premises and spread over three floors, into a comfortable, contemporary working environment. Our job was to also open up the building and unite the three levels as CLS wanted the interior design to reflect the company’s open and ethical working practices.
Concept built a bespoke staircase in the centre of the building. Its floating treads and steel detailing provide transparency from one floor to the next. This was further achieved by the introduction of glass fascias, partitions and walls. Modern design elements including exposed vents and pipe work, tiled ceramic floors and clean lines were dramatically contrasted with more traditional touches such as a walnut reception desk and stair treads.
The result is a dramatic transformation of what was previously mundane office space, into a visually stimulating environment that blends traditional features with contemporary effects.
