Concept Turns its Hand to Nursery Fit-Out and Proves its Skills are Fully Transferable
Concept Plc has recently completed the design and fit-out of a brand new children’s nursery in Feltham, Middlesex. The project was originally estimated to cost £392,000, but with Concept’s design expertise and experience, the fit-out of Harvard Park Day Nursery was completed on time and nearly £80,000 under budget.
As part of an extensive regeneration project in the Feltham Area, A2 Housing Group had aquired premises for a children's nursery, which they had agreed to lease to its co-owners Nicki Saunders and Tracey Milstead. A2 Housing is one of the largest housing groups in the South East. Having worked with an architect to produce the interior plans for the nursery, A2 bought in Concept's design team to complete the fit-out. Although normally specialising in office design, Concept was able to transfer its skills and after inspecting the proposed plans, suggested numerous modifications which reduced the budget by £79,000.
Daniel McKeagney, Project Manager for A2 Housing Group Ltd commented, "Concept's ability to reign in the architect's designs bought us considerable cost savings at no detriment to the original design. With so many parties involved this project could have been difficult to manage, but Concept's professionalism and 'can-do' approach gave us peace of mind to trust them to liase directly with our clients and ensure the fit-out was completed to Nicki and Tracey's satisfaction. They were a joy to work with and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them."
With their knowledge of building regulations, DDA compliance and health and safety requirements. Concept was able to ensure the new nursery met all the requirements and passed its Offsted inspection. It was also able to make considerable savings by suggesting more efficient fixtures and fittings.
Nick Saunders, Managing Director of Harvard Park Day Nursery comments, "We're thrilled to bits with the nursery. Concept has done a wonderful job. The design is nothing like the original floor plans, but Concept's changes not only saved a great deal of money, but ensured we passed the stringent government inspections and could open on time."
